Welcome from the editor

Carol O'Callaghan, Editor

Dear Readers,

The customer is always right, as the old saying goes, so to show we take your views seriously we’re giving you more of what you want.

Top of your list was a demand for more features more regularly, so instead of launching a new edition every quarter, we’ve now become a rolling publication.

It also seems the smaller proportion of the readership liked our travel and book review pages, so we’re dropping these and are giving you more design, art and interiors features instead.

Things to watch out for are Caitlin Doherty’s new art exhibition previews and reviews which offer a mix of contemporary shows from Ireland, Scotland and England, and happily some design is thrown in too. In particular, don’t miss her report on activities around the country being organised as part of the Year of Craft celebrations.

As we inch further into 2011 Reidin McSweeney will be bring us more art news, and we’ll also have plenty for you to read on ‘Material Poetry’ an exhibition of crafted design travelling from New York to Ireland which gives us a chance to view fabulous work produced by Irish designers and coveted internationally.

Following the current vogue for up-cycling, we’ll meet an Irish design duo who have spotted opportunity in economic adversity, revamping old furniture with paint, and doing so with considerable style and wit.

Of course there’s plenty more coming on stream as the year continues to progress which we’ll announce on our mailing list, our blog, Facebook and Twitter, so keep an eye out for these.

We hope you enjoy The Great Indoors Magazine.com as much as we love putting it together.
